Description I made my HDR from this angle but this is the photo I think I'll unsuccessfully try to submit to railpictures.net. Eh it's a thought.

She's been to Spencer before

You probably won't get a chance to see 4610 like this ever again. NS repainted her in early 2012 into the fleet's standard black and white as an Operation Lifesaver unit.

I know and later it will be rebuilt into a GP59E slug master. But no worries there is a heritage fleet coming.

reason for rejection... um there is clouds in the sky...

It was "bad angle" which really pissed me off because I know I would've got common angle from my usual angle.

considering half the photos i see on there are from 100 yards away with no zoom and half blurry, it figures, you are submitting good shots, you need to submit blurry shots of what might possibly be a train...

Joseph-W-Johns In reply to l3rotherwolf [2010-12-20 23:48:41 +0000 UTC]

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't see several photos taken from this angle getting accepted.

What pisses people off most about railpics is hypocracy not the face they get rejected. They get rejected then they see someone else submit something of the same caliber and say "Hey I tried that before and when I did that it got axed." Yes it does piss people off to understandably.

which makes me think someone else (preferably a photgrapher with some rail knowledge) would start a site.... if only i had the time and money myself...

yeah... i like DA works, you are free to submit and they might move a photo to a different gallery but they are pretty leinient about what is art (as opposed to what could be a myspace or facebook type photo) and lets not even get into the whole is it art ot porn on here...

If you don't get it on RPN, don't feel too bad. This is a an awesome shot! They just don't generally tend to care about trivial things like, idk...QUALITY lol

I prefer the ex-SOU/NW units over the old Conrail units to.

I prefer the Southern units over everything else. It use to be the NS that I liked the most till I got the Southern fever.

I get into CSX a bit to but I prefer NW/SOU overall. Being in Aiken SC we have one of the first ever Southern predecessor lines which is the SCRR where the best friend of Charleston used to run.

I'll keep the chatroom deal in mind. Honestly spencer just isn't all that good to me after going there probly 50 times, that and its I dont know how far from Wayne county and they dont even have the 604, or as it will be know eventully the BC&G #4, running now because all the money is probly going toward getting the backshop remodled.

Well a few other people ~Lordofthetrains , ~Adlake , and ~CNW8646 work at SRM in Georgia where they have a couple of ex-Sou Machines running.

Southern name still on 'em?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Joseph-W-Johns In reply to belzelga1 [2010-12-19 01:52:57 +0000 UTC]

yup they have 8202 which runs and they have a few steamers they are trying to get to run.

Also NS is bringing back the steam program and out of TVRM 630 AND 4501will be coming back with 630 hitting the rails next month.

belzelga1 In reply to Joseph-W-Johns [2010-12-19 02:02:56 +0000 UTC]

I wish they would bring 'em here to Spensor so that for once I can enjoy the sights sounds and smell of an old ironhorse again. Id like to see it when they return to the high iron. I guess in a way you could say that the the Southern railway is still alive then. A Dash 9 painted in the Southern black would be really cool.

belzelga1 In reply to belzelga1 [2010-12-18 21:51:47 +0000 UTC]

I think that the green is better suited for the E8 units like 6900 and FP-7 units like 6133, while the black looks better on the freight units like the Southern's SD40-2s that I like to run on the club layout and also on locomotives like GP-30 2601. But its looks good in green too.
