Description Reaper Miniatures #02763 "Shrend, Alligator Man," pewter gaming miniature, converted with plastic spare "bits" from Games Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Ogre Kingdoms sprues, some epoxy putty, and a Wyrd Miniatures 40mm plastic base, painted in acrylics.

I converted this miniature for one of the players in an ongoing Iron Kingdoms Unleashed RPG campaign (Privateer Press), to represent his character, "Soup'zhon" -- a gatorman cook (whose in-game careers are "Bokor/Bone-Grinder").  The idea is that he's armed with a cleaver and a "meat tenderizer" mallet.  As per player request, I used some putty to give him an apron and a chef's hat.  The swampy details on the base are also made with putty.  Gatormen are basically anthropomorphic alligator-people who live in the wilds of Western Immoren (in the fantasy world of Caen), and are actually rather intelligent, but they have ravenous appetites that tend to dominate their motivations, hence their technology level isn't quite up to par with the more developed Iron Kingdoms.  As a "bone-grinder," however, Soup'zhon is able to make magical fetishes and brews out of the parts of various inhabitants of the swamps and woodlands, in addition to his particular talent in swampland cuisine.  (His dire crawdad gumbo is to die for!)  The player is from Louisiana and has a background in Cajun cuisine, so I guess *certain* elements of the concept were less of a stretch than others.

The background for the photo consists of some Hirst Arts Castlemolds scenery assembled and flocked by my friend Digital_Rampage, with painted details by me.  Also included are some partially-painted furniture items from the Mantic Games "Dungeon Saga" furniture pack.  I'm not sure where the play-mat is from.  (It's on loan from one of the players in the campaign.)

Cool! When I first saw it, I thought "Is that a chef's hat?!?!?" Then I read the description.
