Distinguishing features/Personality

Cosgrove: Stripes along lower jaw, Ectrodactyly (three fingers on each hand), loyal to a fault (a fact that Applejack notices and worries her later on regarding his future).

Chelsey: Piebald, tall despite her age. Happy go lucky.

Dapplewood: Mute, often wears a pair of New Wave Sunglasses. Views those who can understand him as additional siblings, especially Sunset Shimmer and Apple Bloom after the first went to college

Zipper: Six fingers on each hand (polydactyly), very fast talker (think John Moschitta Junior). Skittish like Petrie.

Diver: Overweight compared to many of the girls in her class, but nowhere as much as Snips. But don't mention even a synonym: She gets very angry. Occasionally meditates (said to be Zecora's doing)

Base of Operation: Usually CHS, but also in their neighborhood Great Valley Drive and Everton University upon graduating.

Abilities/Powers

Just being humans alone: Chelsey and Cosgrove are the strongest of the group, rivaling Applejack and Applebloom (close but no cigar), Zipper is the fastest (but not as athletically sound as Rainbow Dash or Scootaloo), Diver is the heaviest and is very hard to move (no one short of Applejack can lift her up), and Dapplwood's currently the most agile (may be lost as he grows).

When accidentally ingesting mutagen contaminated meats, they gain the ability to "Pony Up" so to say, but more on an extreme. They don't just get larger ears, but also claws, extended snouts, and tails. Zipper, true to his Equestrian self, sprouts two pairs of wings. Though their strength and agility increased, it does come at a cost regarding metabolism. If they have enough energy, they can go even further and become animals.

When enchanted with enough magic, this is taken even further...

Nevertheless, physical strength isn't their main focus, it's strategy and a fighting spirit; With carefully aimed blows, Dapplewood alone can make Aria Blaze dizzy, and he and the stronger Chelsey are enough to take down an unpowered Applejack while being under the Sirens influence.

History (The Jongojiverse of MLP)

Rise of the Maximals

  Though Cosgrove named the Maximals, the group itself isn't exactly new. Awhile after Cosgrove arrived and Dapplewood was born, he along with Chelsey and Zipper joined a similar group founded by Flash Sentry called "The Anti-Bullying Coalition" (a name that his brother, First Base, found stupid). Consisting of the human Sunset Shimmer, Hooflock, and Crescendo as well, Diver and Cogsworth followed joined soon after. It's from them as well that gave Sunset a new home under Night Dancer, a truly better mother than Hydia.

As some of the members graduated and moved to CHS, the group just disbanded, leaving only Cosgrove, Dapplewood, Chelsey, Zipper, and Diver, with Sunset staying over as a neighbor. Tragedy fell upon all of them one Thanksgiving dinner as a snowstorm claimed Night Dancers life as she drove home. After a months long depression, including Sunset breaking up with Flash, the six met up at Turtle Park where Reeka and Draggle were attacked by the Diamond Dogs. With their efforts, the bullies were defeated, and with a growl, Cosgrove christened the Maximals before sending them on their way.

A few years pass, and Cosgrove, Chelsey, Zipper, Diver, and Cogsworth join Sunset again as they step foot into Canterlot High.

First Equestria Girls

  As they are now the student body of CHS, the Maximals took part of an annual staycation at Camp Friendship. But bad things still follow, and the next day, Roma Candle (created by Discord and Screwball in light of the fact that the Sunset we know still lives in Equestria in the Jongojiverse), wanting to prove herself a leader, lead a group of students off trail, Cogsworth being one of them. Saving Dinky's life from a rockslide at the cost of injuring himself to be paralyzed from the waist down. To help the financial situation, his parents had him transferred to Crystal Prep, and has been distant for a while.

School continued normally until Princess Twilight entered their world in pursuit of Roma Candle. Understanding the need to win the Fall Formal against Trixie, she requires the approval of many groups, the first being Maximals. On the first and second nights of her visit, she stayed in Sunset's house in the suburban Great Valley Drive. On the night of the Fall Formal, the Maximals helped the Rainbooms defeat Roma Candle and her closest friends, the latter sealing them in a special amulet (to their surprise, as Princess Twilight explains in the story).

This has gained the attention of three particular Sirens.

Rainbow Rocks

  The following Spring, the school prepares for their annual fundraiser sponsored by Starcross Music, the Maximals preparing several scatting numbers. Then everything changed when Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk enter the scene and turned it into a competition. Strange enough out of all of them, Sunset Shimmer is the only one of the Maximals to not be affected, and so she helps the Rainbooms, including getting Princess Twilight to return. A long tournament, and a harsh fight against the influenced Maximals and the Dazzlings, and the world is saved again. But not without drawing attention of someone.

The summer after, Sunset joins the Rainbooms, and suggests that they brings the Dazzlings over to Camp Friendship. Not all parties agree to this, but following salvation from a Tsuchigumo infestation, they start to trust them.

But magic still has a way, including creating a rift to a world populated by sapient dinosaurs.

Friendship Games/The Other Visits Saga/Legend of Everfree/Vacant Niches

The Maximals where one of the many spectators to view the Friendship Games, and like them mistook Sci-Twi to the Princess Twilight. It's at this time that Sunset introduces Chelsey to Tex. Following the end of the games, it's decided that the Rainbooms need to expand their numbers, and so tried time and again to get them to pony up. One ingestion of mutagen contaminated meat from Victor Veloci, and the help of the Equestrian Sunset Shimmer, the Maximals were able to channel their energy, improving the odds for our heroes, especially with the Crusaders following thereafter.

After one bad December with the Anon-a-Miss fiasco resulting in turning the accusation from Sci-Twi to Cogsworth, and the Dazzlings getting their powers back, Dapplewood set up a little get together between his brother and Apple Bloom after getting a text from the second if she can come over and interview the hospitalized Tremor, his grandfather. Just when he thought things went well, the young boy and everyone else in CHS heard the confession the following evening at the Valentines Day Dance. Yet, Cosgrove forgave her, if only because he's done enough damage that December (a godsend really as Scootaloo, against all common sense, posted ludicrous information on Night Dancer; it took his damnedest to keep his anger in check). A following attack from a mutated Skystalker and Darksteel landed Cosgrove in the hospital, putting him out of commission for a long while.

With the help of the Zap Apples, Cosgrove regained his strength, and with the Fluttershy, the Crusaders, Big Mac, and Dapplewood's help on a daring rescue, came back to the saddle. The Maximals were heavy players in a month's long battle against Sombra, Chrysalis, Grogar, and the Predacons, including Cogsworth. They've saved the world of course, and though they didn't go to Camp Everfree, they did venture into the Dinosaur World.

But the battle once again attracted attention, this time from Tirek. The result is devestating; Just after having a talk with Applejack, she, Cosgrove, Most of the Maximals helping out at Sweet Apple Acres, and the Crusaders were captured. Dapplewood witnessed Sunset shot close to her heart while trying to evade on motorcycle before both of them and the rest of the Rainbooms were captured.

With help from Adagio, Flash Sentry, Big Mac, Tex, Skystalker, Darksteel, and Blackarachnia, our heroes managed to break out; the Rainbooms searching for Sunset while the Maximals and Crusaders helped the rescue party subdue any escaping convicts. With Tirek sucking up their magic, it took a miracle for everyone to regain their power and more.

To this day, with the Rainbooms graduated and moved to Everton University along with the majority of their class, changes were made. Cosgrove succeeded Sunset as leader while Chelsey started recruiting a few likely candidates, including Snips and Snails. Dapplewood found another to look up to, that being Apple Bloom. Their real test began when a three-way gang war broke out the following after Torch retired from the corporation/underground crime syndicate Bloodstone Incorporated.
