Well, japanese directors and pantyshots go hand in hand, so no use in asking why, it's almost inescapable. I just don't get why she exploded in popularity.

Exactly what I mean, like every other girl ina JRPG she looks like one of those catwalk models in fashion shows wearing really pretty stuff that no one will ever wear. I don't want to start a rant I just don't get it, the first game had a woman with white hair and silly clothing just like this one, why didn't she become super popular?

1. 2B looks like R.U.R.-enovated version of very popular character, Youmu Konpaku.
2. "Pretty stuff no one will really wear" is to be worn under a good tint or ling coat or both.

Simply put, Kaine (from the first Nier) is an interesting character. And I know plenty of people that played and appreciated the first Nier regard her as arguably the most interesting party member.
But you can't play as her at all. That in itself diminished her appreciation. Compare that to 2B, who's been the poster girl for Nier:Automata since the games announcement. It's easy to see why she's gained a stronger following.
Also because people saw that Platinum Games was heading the development. Fans of the Drakengard/Nier series and newcomers were naturally expecting the games quality to be solid.
Personally, I'd declare it's by far the most enjoyable installment to play.

Pencils vary in softness and hardness.
Your standard pencil is an HB, think of HB as your 0 when it comes to counting, when you go higher into B, the pencils get harder, thus making darker shades they can range from 1B to probably a lot more than I know, but the most I've used is 6B, when you go to the H side, the higher the number the lighter the shade of it is, these are less used cuz you can make a pretty light shade even with your standard HB.
The joke itself is that the character next to the giant pencils is calledΒ YoRHa No.2 Type B or 2B for short. So yeah, it's a joke with her name.

Either way I prefer those Dixon Ticonderoga 2HB pencils as a base pencil to have in bulk, especially for the eraser being good compared to erasers that aren't for artists or draftsmen

I suppose. I'm not really a huge fan of over the top fantasy fighting (to me it looks so silly and stupid compared to realistic fighting which is far more brutal and hellish). I appreciate light fantasy such as Dark Souls games but nothing beats devotion to realism. (thanks For Honor, you did a good job.)
Further more, I just REAAAAAAALLY don't like the whole "anime slut" cliche. And the fact that she's an android makes it worse. She looks cute and I like the dress, but for hellavuts sake I wanna see her character not her crotch.
