Digging through rock is a lot harder than digging soil. Very interesting concept, which could indicate difficulty, in the now or past. Or it could mean, conflict with someone who is trying to harm you by digging in the past. Either way, it is very interesting. Excellent work.

Thanks for the interpretation attempt.  Interesting comment about someone trying to harm me by digging in the past.  But I tell you what, you can't bring people low who are already on the bottom floor, that's why it is such a comfy place to be, nothing much to lose, no one cares what your history is cos you are a nobody anyway.  The more you have to lose, the more susceptible you are to corruption I reckon.

Maybe, but I think it is perhaps irrelevant in this instance.

Interesting....what was you inspiration for this piece?

Well, that is me as a kid, clipped out from a photo my mum sent to me today.  In the original photo I was standing on soil, with my family around me, my dad holding a spade dug into the ground and some potatoes on the grass.  I guess I recreated the digging theme with different stock around the image of me as a kid.  I was just going to do soil (fitting better in colour with the overall image) but I found an interesting image of mountain cairns, and it reminded me of lore I read about mountain cairns and so I went with that.

I see.  It is very nice that you used your own image and experiences to create this piece.

Thanks.  It is kind of, I don't know, sentimental using old images like this.

It is, it gives it that personal touch!

I think I also got a sense of it, after I had finished, about the idea of the inner child being buried and so the imperative to dig was to find her.  Perhaps the stones are the accumulation of life experiences that buried her.
