History
Back during the glory days of Cybertron, Ironhide and his best friends Blackout, was apart of the military to defend the planet, one day the Seeker, Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp, attacked a school filed trip, upon arriving a school teacher, Sideswipe, was fighting off the seeker trio soon Ironhide and Blackout apprehended the seeker trio, ended there reign of terror, one day Cybertron was consumed by a black hole with Ironhide escaping with Optimus, Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Jazz, Wheeljack, and Mirage, after some tough times on Earth and the defeat of King Ghidorah by the hands of Godzilla, Ironhide along with Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Arcee, and Sideswipe after the funeral of Jazz, Wheeljack, and Mirage went into stasis lock, knowing Earth was in safe hands with the humans.

Jess Harnell already did voice work for Ironhide in the first three Micheal Bay Transformers films.
