How do you achieve those highlights?!

It's no sophisticated techique. I just paint around highlight, next I wet the edges with clear water (this is not metal, so highlights must be soft)Β and in case paint flows too eagerly and tries to kill the highlight, I dry this area with a piece of tissue. I see you make great pencil studies; good luck with changing to watercolor! It's fun, I'm sure you will like it.
