According to Valencia, it's not easy being a buxom pretty mermaid. Life has been nothing but challanges since the day she was born. Her father first wanted to name her after her orange tail or blue-silver eyes. But he decided on Valencia, after the oracles and soothsayers told him that boys wouldn't be able to properly romance her with songs or poems, being unable to rhyme her name. She doesn't like nicknames variations of Red, Orange, and don't even get her started on Goldfish. She even tryed dying her hair once to get away from that moniker. The more daring than most of her family, she enjoys exploring new places. Valencia also has a habit of swimming topless in warm waters or when sunning herself on a comfortable rock or beach. Like it's her fault that seashells are so hard to find in her size. She insists that her reputation for being careless around humans is undeserved -- well, maybe except for when she is around more handsome the male ones. Valencia claims that she's still not been seen, too often - even if the humans did name a few cities (Brest and Nice, France, Pretty Bay, Malta, and Valencia, Spain) after her. Ok, maybe mom was right about her being a little too friendly with the boy who named that last one. She considers humans, so much fun, like how some female turn sunset red, or seaweed green when she jiggles just right.

Valencia considers herself a gourmet when it comes to shellfish. Visiting Puget Sound, she had been delighted by all tasty muscles, oysters, and clams. And with the discovery of Goeducks, she found both a taste treat and potential wardrobe all in one.
