Patti's story has always been a touch inconsistant.

One time she claimed to be part of the entertainment, for all the elves who tirelessly work for Santa's toy sweat shop. She claimed to have escaped to sanctuary by dressing up as a doll and having herself delivered. Always did wonder what became of that Anime figure I had ordered. Another time, she claimed to have been one of the workers, who accidentally fell into a gift box, or tried hide and catch a quick nap, only to be delivered to me. Some of the other fairies have come to the conclusion that she's a surgically altered elfin spy, sent by Santa to report on all their mischief. Note to self: I need to cut back on their TV time, again. No more mainlining Mission: Impossible.

According to the note Santa left me with the empty glass of milk, Patti is really a good girl at heart and means well. But she was becoming a distraction at the work shop and would benefit form a vacation to see the human world. And after seeing all my other fairies, he decided to send her to me. He also included lots of nice chocolate treats and toys for the rest of the fairies that year. So, I could hardly say, "no". Besides, I had no idea how to return her for exchange.

After learning that one of The Mint twins already called herself Peppermint, and that a Peanuts character used her full name, Patti decided to go with the shorter version. She takes the nickname from her favorite weakness, peppermint stick candy canes.
