Beautiful but the ring's circle is not continuous, it breaks behind the mountain/tower...

Thoruzian stood looking at the Great Ring in the distance. After all these millennia it was still an awe-inspiring sight. From where he was standing the Ring looked more or less complete, however could see that the Eastern side did not quite match up with the West and he knew there was an ancient break hidden from his view behind Sharnagga's Thorn.
The legends said that the Ring was broken the last time the Ungrik emerged from their dark domains. The awesome power of the complete Ring was what stopped them, but it was broken in the process. Now, after eight hundred years in the shadows, they were stirring again. He asked himself- what could come between them and domination of the sunlit lands this time?

I dashed this piece of fiction off, inspired by your question. It is something I do here in dArt. You can see my Collection of stories on my Page. At the time I didn't know if the artist had any such thing in mind. In fact, I found another picture on his profile which actually does have broken bits of ring in it.
