Description Okay, I've seen on a few sites now people asking how I make the mask and I'd now like to take a few moments to explain so that other people can run around with a pretty nifty faceless mask too.

I've thrown in a few pictures of what I've done to build up to this mask too as I saw a few "Well I was going to do the Question but I'd never be able to beat this guy." To show it didn't always look like that but I did it anyways. I don't think I can count how many different pairs of womens underwear I threw over my face before I got it right.

But that's enough of my rambling let's get on with the actual tutorial!

Okay first off what you'll need.

1. A white expressionless mask.

Try to get one that fits your face as well as possible. You can see as my gallery is filled with my previous mask, the looser the mask is on your face the more it'll bunch up at random points and it just doesn't look right.

2. Nylons/tights/pantyhose/cheese cloth/ what ever other kind of fabric you choose.

In my latest attempt I used a pair of tan dancing nylons. That were nice and thick, yet you could still see out of them, well about 10 feet away that is.

3. Flesh Coloured Paint (Optional.)

Okay depending one the thickness of the fabric and if the mask has a shine to it you may want to pick up some fleshy paint to put over the mask, with my previous attempt the fabric was too thin and someones time you could see the white on the nose or the cheeks from the mask. it's a good idea to paint to mask just in case.

4. Scissors and Staples.

To put the thing together.

Okay now to actually assemble your mask.

step 1 (Optional)

Paint the mask if your going to do it.

Step 2.

Cut the fabric, just cut a large circle, cut it a bit larger then you think you'll need as you can remove it later if you need to.

Step 3. Stretch the nylon out over the mask slowly. Start at one of the corners of the forehead, work your way to the other side making sure you have enough fabric to reach the other side. When stapling it down the side of the face switch sides to make sure you're giving both the right amount of fabric, when you get down to the chin be very careful and try to pull as much to the inside of the mask before stapling to avoid it bunching up.

It's really a simple procedure and shouldn't take that long to put it together.

You don't need the string keep the mask on if your taking shots with the hat on. in most cases if you put it on then put the fedora on, the hat should be able to anchor it to your face pretty well.

If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer them. >.>

I wanna make this for a Renee Montoya cosplay, but I have a few questions.
1. How to you keep it on your face so it doesn't fall off?
2. Should the fabric be loose on the mask, or tight?
That's pretty much it, please reply!

tight on the mask, so you can see through it and so there aren't any weird lumps on it.

The fedora generally should keep it anchored to your head and keep it perfectly in place, if not keep the string on for shots without the hat, it generally can't be seen all that well, you can paint the string something to match your hair colour to help it blend in better.

Thanks. Since I have long hair, I guess I could just brush it over the string for shots without the hat.

What brand of nylon dance tights did you buy/where did you get 'em?

This is a much better alternative to regular nylons, I think.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, was trying to get out to the store where I bought them originally but still haven't managed to do so, just letting you know I'll get back to you when I do.

And it does work a lot better as I find it's a bit thicker and thus not as see through as regular nylons.

Hmm, there's a costume/party shop near my house, most of those should have them, if not I can't imagine they'd be too much to order them online.

If you have a Crafts2000, they typically sell them. The one near me does at least.
