Description

Alright, a picture of Yami!! (Not to be confused with Yugi Muto.) Yami is the 5,000 year of spirit of the Egyptian Pharaoh, Atem, who's soul is housed within the Millennium Puzzle. Unbenounced to him, when Yugi solved the puzzle, he awakened the Pharaoh's spirit. At first, the spirit would take over Yugi's body to protect him and/or punish those that hurt him or his friends. Yugi would not remember those incidents. Whenever Yugi played Duel Monsters, the spirit would awaken and guide Yugi subconsciously. Later, Yugi began to notice the presence of "another Yugi." His suspicions were confirmed when Yugi and his friends got stuck in a shadow game, where each character's soul got housed within their favorite cards. When Yugi played himself, he suddenly appeared on the playing field with the "other Yugi" towering over him and his friends. Yugi mentioned to his friends how he was pretty sure they could trust him. The "other Yugi" worked hard to save everyone from getting killed in the deadly shadow game. Afterwards, everyone woke up and thought it was a dream, while Yugi wondered about the stranger inhabiting his body. Yugi begins to correspond with the spirit and learns that the spirit has been and would continue to help him in his efforts to save his grandfather's captured soul. (plot for season 1) At one instance, the spirit and Yugi clashed. Yugi was winning a duel against the anti-hero, Seto Kaiba, when Kaiba, in an attempt to force Yugi's hand, stood on a ledge and threatened to jump off and commit suicide. (His brother's soul had been taken by the villain, and he had to win at all costs.) Yami, who had never lost a duel, was willing to risk Kaiba's life to win (and save Yugi's grandpa). However, Yugi managed to overpower Yami's control to call off the attack and forfeit the duel. Afterwards, Yugi was afraid of the spirit and didn't want to endanger anyone else, so he refused Yami's help when taking on Mai in the semi finals. Unfortunately, Yugi's attention was divided as he tried to hold back Yami and concentrate on the duel, causing him to make poor decisions and nearly losing the match (and his chance to free his grandfather). However, after some encouragement from Mai, and Yami promising never to go against his will, Yugi let Yami take over and win the duel. When they finally faced the villain, they discovered that he also had a Millennium item (the Millennium Eye) that he was using it to read their mind, essentially, making it impossible to strategize and win the duel. Yugi came up with the idea of them separating their minds and swapping after one of them took a card and played it, that way, the villain couldn't read what they were doing, because they wouldn't know what card the other had played. This worked until the villain used his power to take them into the shadow realm, causing their monsters to be summoned by their life force. Being too weak to maintain his monsters or the mind swapping, Yugi passed out, leaving Yami to finish the duel without his aid. After saving everyone's souls and being declared the "King of Games," Yugi thanks Yami for his help. The rest of the 4 seasons are dedicated to Yugi helping Yami discover his past. The two become close friends, and even Yugi's group of friends accept him into their mix.

Yami is a very strong, brave, intelligent character. He holds himself confidently and is a master of games. Unlike Yugi's "soul room," which is filled with children's toys to show his innocence, Yami's "soul room" is a labyrinth of stairs and doors leading on in an elaborate maze. It also resembles an Egyptian tomb. This room would suggest that Yami's mind is like the very puzzle his soul is housed in, and, try as he may, he can not find his memories or anything to hint him of his past.

Well, I think that's enough back story. Accidentally summarized season 1, but whatever! XD I will definitely be coloring him. I love Yami and Yugi so much. I think Yami has awesome eyes too.

Thanks, but I didn't trace. This was done free handed. I did look at a picture for reference, but in the end I drew it all myself.
