I wonder if that might've been a way of saying that he was a firm believer in lifelong innocence, or that innocence should last for a lifetime instead of just ending abruptly at adulthood, which I often tend to think is a possible, if not the most perfect solution to all those laments I recently noticed about children growing up too fast. I probably feel like I'm being given the "overgrown child" treatment myself, which probably helps that I look fifteen years younger (I'm 25 BTW).
