To get the type of shot I think you are talking about, I believe you need to shoot from *in* the water. Still with a tele lens, but if you are out past the final shore break it won't appear as foreground. Maybe (?). I've attempted some similar things, but haven't posted an to DA. I
ll see if I can find them and send you a link. You can tell me if it is the kind of shot you are going for.

I like the crystalline splash. But it looks like the foreground colors are not well defined. Just my humble opinion.

Do you remember the sun position? Maybe the clarity influences the definition ... I've never tried this, but I think the sun should be above or behind the camera.

Try setting the camera for constant burt shooting (as a sports photographer) and then start taking shots as the wave comes in... you maybe lucky to get one or two shots just as you would like... Just a thought - I have not tried it myself...

Β Β Β Β "I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
Β Β Β Β And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying."
