Thank you so much for this very Fair critique.
As so your curiosity on deciding to go this route......to be honest I didn't have much choice. Our Town has very small windy streets and the house next door to this one is also nice BUT I think architecturally more modern.
This old Building is built with huge stones which I could see very clearly in the light available. I also wanted to bring only a portion of the tree into the frame because the electric light was making a similar "umbrella" effect which you have noticed.
This Town was a very large Roman Port on the Rhone. I had HUGE houses owned by rich Merchants from all over Europe.
We have hundreds of architectural students come to visit because they can study: Roman/Gothic/Architecture with ease.

You're so very welcome, and it sounds like an intriguing place to visit - I imagine that you certainly come across quite a few university students on a daily basis. Getting an empty street would be difficult, then, I suppose. Still, I definitely think the night shot was a great choice; it really adds atmosphere.

The whole scene with interesting details,like doors,windows,branches of the tree,the signboard at the left side and the signs at the door on the right side(the heart)are a bit to much diffuse and that`s a shame here.Perhaps the problem is the fact that it is a Photo that was made without to much light(a night shot?)In my opinion the sepia effect is to much here and the grain is to intensive. Perhaps it would better to made a b/w version.Otherwise the angle,the theme and the whole details are interesting. A description about this Photo would be interesting for us watchers too!

Not too good on night photography Zorro but I try.
There was actually too much light I think from the lamp.........also in this Town the streets are so thin it is hard to manouver!

I`m the same here with night Photos-one of the problem is the light and the iso setting(if it`s to high most Photos get grain).I`m glad that you think it`s fair,cause it`s not easy to gave a critic in another language and find the right words
