Ray Park v.3 FINISHED!!!!!!About 126 hours
Not the best shot of it. I'm having it photographed by a pro photographer this weekend. So a better shot will be posted Monday!!
14x17 Bristol Vellum
circulism, negative drawing and cross hatching techniques
.3mm and .5mm mechanical pencils (lead variations 6H-4B)
small tortillons
cotton pads, swabs, and cosmetic applicators
Blu Tak mixed with kneaded eraser
Faber Castell eraser pencils

EDIT: No, I have not been able to get it professionally photographed. I may end up trying to scan it on another scanner. One that won't bend it. I've got to install the scanner to my laptop and then get the drawing from my shop this weekend. So, I'm hoping to have it done over the weekend. Sorry to keep you guys all waiting.
EDIT 10/14/07: Ended up being able to have it photographed afterall!! It's as close to the original as we could get it!! The original may be just a tad bit brighter than this. But it's CLOSE! You can see the details better now!
And we did still have to Photoshop it a little bit, hence the straight line along the jawline on the left. And also the reason the left shoulder doesn't have that corduroy details showing so much. But as I said, this was the best we could do!!
EDIT 10/16/07: I had some time to clean it up a little bit more and also make it look much more presentable. So THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT!!

How big is your piece? Is it the Darth Maul piece, or something else? If it's something else, I'd like to see it!!
Mine is in an 18x24 frame. Black wood frame with a pale grey mat that looks like pale marble, with a thin black border around the cut edge. But I can take it out. I never had the paper backing put on it. I'll add it when the piece is officially done with his signature.
You ought to try to take your piece and show him. He LOVES seeing artwork!!

I did 2 portraits, the Darth Maul portrait that greets you on my page, and another called Lord Maul which is the full body that hangs just behind me on my wall.
I am a picture framer by trade, but british techniques differ from the U.S, as far as I know you guys get that paper over the back to seal it in right? we use a sealing tape, but if a customer wants to be able to take their stuff out at any time we use flexi-points, little metal clips shot into the wood of the frame that can be bent upwards to allow access to the picture inside.
I would LOVE for him to see my piece, I adore it, some of my best work ever.

Oh cool! I wish I could see them in person myself!! I'm 100% positive, he'd love to see them as well!! He appreciates good artwork! He's actually showing himself to be quite a creative person as well. He never quits surprising me. LOL! Last year, he surprised me by mixing some music he had put on a video he had made. I knew he'd done some video editing, but the musical creativity took me by surprise. And then recently, he got involved with a GI Joe: Snake Eyes comic that is supposed to be released later this summer. He's cowriting it with director, Kevin Van Hook. And he's always been supportive of me and my artwork. And he's always been supportive of other artists as well.
It depends on where you have your work framed, actually. You can do with the paper or without. But they sometimes use those points as well. Some people even use small nails instead of those flexi-points. Also depends on what the frame is made of.

I saw this picture in someone's favorites the other day, passed it by, and couldn't forget about it, so dug around the site a while untill I found it again. You captured the intensity of his stare incredibly well. I kinda wish it wasn't so kriffing hard to stop looking at.
