Biography
Detivvic is one of the best scientists in the Brotherhood of Makuta and is responsible for the creation of many rahi species. Over time, however, he grew tired of creating new life and his interest turned to improving on that which was "imperfect" in the world of the Bionicle. Most of his studies involved dissecting sapient subjects and manipulating their DNA to observe what came out of the trial. He even performed experiments on himself to see how far he could manipulate his biomechanical physiology (without shape-shifting, of course; and BEFORE makuta evolved into their gaseous state). Even colleagues like Chirox and Mutran were slightly disturbed by Detivvic's methods, even if said methods procured successful results.
For centuries, Detivvic's twisted work was tolerated; until Miserix caught Detivvic secretly experimenting on a matoran- which Miserix only cared about because Detivvic didn't report that said matoran had breached the Brotherhood's security on Destral. Enraged, Miserix restricted Detivvic's freedom to perform his own experiments without the leader's direct approval. Detivvic quietly begrudged this punishment for decades until Neero approached him with an offer he couldn't refuse: the freedom to experiment for Neero's agenda. Although Detivvic doesn't really support Neero's plans of seizing power, let alone care about who rules the Brotherhood, he's more than happy to make his mark on history by showing the world the glory of the perfection he can create; starting with his latest augmented warrior, Cyro...
Detivvic is a brilliant and dangerous makuta with no loyalties save to himself. He only cares about his work, which means he'll go to any lengths- high and low- to acquire his desire. In addition to being a genius and an exceptional scientist, he's also a master with his powers. He has no taste for combat, but can fend for himself in an emergency and is quite adept at playing dirty. Furthermore, he has two rahkshi- of Stasis and Electricity- as his assistant bodyguards, both of which possess kraata developed by Dettivic himself to Stage 6 and are well trained to follow orders carefully. Detivvic's body has been greatly modified with extra advantages, such as his organic wings and mechanical hands equipped with retractable scalpels. The most advantageous modification is the installation of a power sphere in his chest. Thanks to its pure energy, Detivvic no longer needs to eat, breath, or sleep; however, he is limited to average strength.
Figure Blabber
Detivvic used to be a titan moc centered on a red-and-black color scheme (not that he's short now, but he used to be bigger). Given the parts choice, he naturally resembled Makuta Antroz. But somewhere during the building I decided to give him a more animal-like look; perhaps to exaggerate the "batty-ness" of the Phantoka makuta in general. When I decided that he would be the makuta scientist that created Cyro, his creepy appearance played a role in inspiring many of his dark characteristics.
I tried to preserve as much of Detivvic's old appearance as possible this time around, but decided to trim him down a great deal, as I didn't want his size to compete with his boss, Neero. I also changed his mask to remove as many Antroz similarities as I could. Removing the wings would probably help too, but they suited his character too well since he's all about improving biology and all that (he's the kind of jerk you might find experimenting on X-men).
While rebuilding Detivvic, I suddenly had the urge to use the Phantoka torso. I was very reluctant to do so because: 1- too much black to break the color scheme; 2- too Antrozy; and 3- wasn't sure if a non-evolved makuta could handle having a launching mechanism in their chest where I presume they would need to keep critical organs like lungs. But the more I considered it, the more I realized how much it suited Detivvic's character and the more I fell in love with the concept. So, I decided to give custom building a try to keep a fair amount of red in the torso. It took a while, but I eventually found a build that I couldn't be happier with. I did have a chestplate build to cover up the chest cavity (which he will have in the story), but it ended up being too bulky, so I discarded it completely.
