Description 4-30-2011

The house adjacent to us is actually a shrine. Sometimes I hear the click click sounds of hyoshiki sticks and the smell of incense. It's hard to tell where the neighbor's house ends and the shrine they take care of begins.

Iida City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan

I absolutely love how cursive-like the kanji look.

Ack, sorry I never wrote back. It's a Buddhist prayer, somewhat like "namu amnida butsu" but it's a little different. So I guess I need to retitle this picture the Neighborhood Temple. XD

I guess it's odd living next to it if anything. From my house it looks like a normal house, it's not until you turn the corner that you see the shrine part.
