Very effective. I'm reminded of Turner's paintings and the use of a diamond shape in the center to express the action and to take in the sublime forces of nature, usually storms. The three posts line up with the hill on the left and reinforce the diagonal. And the human figures are dwarfed by nature, another feature of Turner, and are virtually anonymous as a result. Whereas the edifice on the right retains its detail, the humans might as well be stick figures for all their insignificance. There's a nice contrast between the light and dark birds in the sky. Most impressive is the luminous river in front of the edifice. The sun appears to be blocked by the hill at the left-hand side of the painting and yet the lighting is thoroughly convincing.

This artwork is just marvelous. It is truly amazing how beautiful this piece turned out. I really love the background in this one. The depth of the picture is just incredible. The sky is so enchanting with its dark clouds mixed with the rising sun and all of the golden shadows that it creates. The buildings are amazing. The characters that are drawn are shaded incredibly. It is truly remarkable how well this whole piece looks together. Everything about is so perfect that when I search for a word to describe this whole piece, only one comes to mind EPIC.

This is a great piece of work, I wonder where is your desired emphasis? Is it the people, or the landscape, or the 'kingdom' itself? The color is great, and I really like the 'flowers'. The broken pillars should've been more varied. The characters are cool, is it from some game? I'm really curious about the story of the novel. My favorite part is this art is how you draw the rocks and the mountain. It looks pretty realistic. Well I don't know what else to say I still have ten words left. And now five. Four. Three. Two. One.

Hi, thanks for the comment. This is actually two pieces combined into one image (front cover and back cover). That is why the composition seems a bit broken. The pillars are just there to separate the two images, and I wanted the focus to be in the people. If you cover one image or the other, I think this becomes more obvious.

Thanks!

This piece is quite beautiful. The mighty ruins clearly depict the glory of a distant past. The passersby seem unfazed with what are probably familiar sights. The warriors on the hill look toward the sunset; an act that mirrors the idea of looking into the past. Also, the setting sun alludes to the passing of time and new beginnings. Overall, very good storytelling and vision.
Thematically, it is much like other fantasy depictions of ancient ruins; however it is unique in its own way and a theme that I feel never fails to evoke a magical feeling.
The technique is admirable to say the least. The creator's skill is very highly developed and impressive. This piece mirrors the dedication of a very ambitious artist.
I only have one thought of constructive criticism, which is dwarfed by the overall excellence of the work. This criticism would be that I feel that the work could possibly benefit from a broader range of colors. Perhaps, though, the artist felt that the retreating sunlight would cast a glow that bathed all the land. I have seen this effect before.
Overall, a wonderful piece which deserves recognition. It is the vision of artists like this that jumpstarts the imaginations of all people.

Thank you very much! I really liked your interpretation of the piece, it's really great. And I think you're right about the palette - the initial sketch actually had more blues and greens, but some of those tones got lost in the process.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this, I really appreciate it
