Description This is a quick study I did depicting some key facial expressions of the main characters in a "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" fanfiction I've been outlining lately. Having just bought the "Foster's" Season 1 DVD, I took the opportunity to study the animation at length and pick up on the subtleties of the character designs. If I ever get the story fleshed out, I'd like to adapt it in comic form, but it'll probably be a while - I've got other comic projects to launch first.

If memory serves, these were sketches based on a Foster's fanfic I wanted to write at the time, all about how much I hated Cheese. It was about everyone in the house finally getting fed up with him being blissfully oblivious to what a pain in the ass he was while butting into everything and wrecking everyone's day, but being forced to keep him around anyway thanks to the wishes of some high-up authority figure or something - all of it a thinly-veiled metaphor for Cartoon Network shoving Cheese down viewers' throats in all the promos and merchandise.

I'm glad I never wrote it, because I genuinely don't care anymore. Just like American Dad, Foster's is a show that I gravitated away from in frustration because all the main characters were getting really obnoxious, and there was one very awesome yet sorely underused supporting female character in the cast who would have been a far better candidate for main character but the writers just kinda swept her under the rug and forgot she existed.

Very intresting idea and some neat sketches, too. Although I'm kinda hoping, since it's coming from you, it's bound to have an ending where Cheese may get what's coming to him. I'm sure we all know how certain Foster's episodes end on a low note, don't we?

You're going to let Cheese be in your fan fiction? IIRC, you're not exactly a fan of the guy.

That's the idea. Note that he and Louise are the only ones smiling. The story is an intended satire of the overblown attention and praise that Cheese gets from a big percentage of the "Foster's" fanbase. In it, Louise's family goes on vacation and deposits Cheese at Foster's for safekeeping, but everyone who visits the house is instantly enamored with him and tries to adopt him, and the stress of keeping potential adopters away from him drives everybody up the wall.
