My half of a trade with !Lord Kass a ruthless general from the Neopets universe stops to enjoy a field of flowers. This was my first piece using Copic markers a fun new challenge. Hope you enjoy this Foxy!

I definitely think this came out great too. But yeah my clouds are generally pretty simple. If I make them look too detailed they end up looking too solid.

And true, I understand your point there. I get the same problem. I guess if you were to do them in a different media (or even multiple medias), maybe the outcome would be pretty interesting. I'm going to be practicing that myself sometime in the future.

I have definitely thought about it... It seems like I can actually nail clouds pretty good in colored pencils but I'm really trying to get into markers because I think they have more style and color. But it's harder to layer colors etc with them...

Yeah, that is a thing with markers unfortunately. They are harder to work with. I guess you'll have to familiarize with them a bit more and find a good strategy to work with. Usually with markers I like to start off with the lightest color first and carefully work from there with darker (and usually matching) colors. I do still need to practice as well though. They can be tricky.

It's like flat coloring is pretty easy for me but trying to do more complex things can get really tricking like in the comic where its a full scene.

Yes I am! He was probably one of my favorite villains in neopets. Foxy and I were recently discussing the plots of neopets and his story came up a lot.

Yeah he's definitely the one I remember the most. Pretty intimidating for a guy from a site full of adorable animals you can paint rainbow colors. I remember seeing an animation of part of the plot where it's implied that he's already killed several people!

One of their first plots involved a ski lodge murder! The site was originally made for college students and I think most of the older characters represent this. Still its hard to believe the site full of harmless looking creatures had a dark side.
I'm familiar with all the plots actually. I was a long time player back in the day.

I did a report on Neopets when I was in middle school. I learned a lot. The plots were darker in the beginning because their target audience was other college students. There were items such as alcohol drinks that later got changed to sodas fit the new target audience. It did not officially become a kids site until the released the McDonald's toys.Β

I thought this looked different, you switched to copics! by the looks you've got a few colors too. or are you cheating and using grays like me
backgrounds are splendid as ever, your flower stems actually have shadowing on the which is good.
his highlights are a bit ehh. but I'm not going to knock you to much cuz I cant do it either with markers. but it definitely the start of something right.
one down side are his legs. it looks like he has none. I know what you were trying to do but I think the angle is a little off. It kind looks like his legs just cease to exist. like at that angle from where we see his legs we wouldn't be able to see the ground like we do. he's either standing knee deep in mud or has no legs.

I used a few greys mostly on the clouds. I feel like the color selection for my set is a bit limited as there are lots of neatural colors so I think I might need to pick up another set of primarys. I like the copics so far but they will take some getting used to.

Hmm... what parts of the hightlights? Just overall? (the purples remind me of candy. XD)
I tried to make the flower field look tall and exotic enough that he was wading through it but you're right it looks a bit incomplete. Funfact: I can only draw entire legs but not partial legs...:/

Mostly highlights in general. Blacks are usaly the hardest for me. I think it's hard to make it look right.

Yeah it's hard working with blacks. Kinda why I changed Aesk's hair from black to white even though it hink black looked better.

Β I am speechless... Omg he looks so amazing I can't really find the words he just looks so peaceful. Wow, you did such a beautiful job. Also omg you did an incredible job with the copics and I like how you corporated dagarin in the back ground along with flying neopets in the distance. Plus how the sun setting colors combine so smoothly with the green fields of flowers.

Kass has been through a lot, yah in the first plot he is a general but in the second plot he was possessed by the mysterious 3 and then killed. It is sad though though believe me or not I didn't know till recently. I have read the plot back when I played but I didn't get until later on. (Funny part though is that I explain neopets to my art teacher and told him it's a kid site. once I told him about kass he was like "...and this is a kid site sounds kinda dark". I just said I bearly knew about this info lol)
