The Keeper's sobs in Jedi were provided by Ernie Fosselius who did the Hardware Wars film in '78.

You might not like your cartoon style, I certainly do. This is fantastic, full of character and having read the short story Monster Keeper, makes my heart melt.

Jeez, set it to Sarah McLachlan singing 'When sombody loved me' and you'd have a real three-hanky scene there. sniff

Just wait until he's all grown up though, he'll be a mean, sort of green, not so lean, killing machine....whose killed by a farm boy's rather unusual aim.

My first ever published Star Wars art was the Rancor for the Topps Galaxy set 1990 or 91. Based on the movie novelization, I wrote how the Rancor was a mutant tormented by Jabba's treatment, to madness. Luke didn't just want to save his own skin, but wanted to put the big guy out of his misery. This has contradicted in SW ext. universe stuff since, but the story behind the keeper's tears always intrigued me.

Beguiler In reply to jasonpal [2010-07-09 21:21:20 +0000 UTC]
yeah...I'd always figure that those who could afford Rancor, outside of the darkwitches, never treated them well and certainly no Hutt I can think of would want one that's as docile as a kitten.
