Description Yes, this is actually a self-portrait. No, I don't really have ram horns. No, I don't really have wings or face tattoos. I obviously took several artistic liberties.

That IS the length/texture of my hair, but the color is off due to lack of appropriate colors. That is a brighter version of my eye color. I really do have a Monroe Mole, and that is a chicken pox scar on my forehead. The cala lily is my second favorite flower, and my wedding ring is my most prized possession.

I really have to give a thank you to for playing a part in inspiring me to do this. I've always been downright SCARED of using color. Mainly because I never really felt like I had enough colors to make ANYTHING look right. (Marker colors, I mean.). All I have is the Manga set of Prismacolors (12 Markers), a small number of various cool and neutral grey copics, and two skin tone colored copics.

I was talking to her via FAQ comments and she made an excellent point: I need to learn to manipulate colors. (Those weren't her EXACT words, but that's what I got out of it.) Instead of pining for all the colors of marker available, I should learn to use what I have. So... I tried it. This was the result. This was the first time I ever took coloring something seriously, even if the concept of the lineart was something I totally put together at random...

I like the result. So a big thank you to for making such a tiny suggestion. Clearly, it has helped me break through a huge barrier.

If you haven't checked out her gallery, you should. Go look at her work and view the online sensation before I murder you.

It's so frustrating when you don't have all the colors you need to make a piece. I've kind of found a way around it, though. I use colored pencils, too, now.

Your approach to color is great so you shouldn't be scared anymore.... As SiSero said you have to do what you can with what you have...

If this was your first time, with practice you'll be amazing

BTW the eyes and hands are beautiful

I actually am SUPER CLOSE to finishing up my newest piece. It just needs some touch ups. I'll probably be putting it up today.

MY GOODNESS!! This came out beautifully! You should be should feel proud! I'm so honored that what I said inspired you! I'm truly touched, my dear I think you made wonderful uise of your markers! (and you only have 12 colors?! WOW! ) Keep on going, keep on trying, and continue to experiment with your materials! You'd be surprised what a handful of markers are capable of!
