They copied Kefka from Final Fantasy VI and even Piedmon's Final Form is somewhat of a devilish/angelical being.

I lurve the pose, the clothes, and the shiney/flowiness of the hair. It looks really fun to draw. But overall, those claws of his are the sexiest thing ever. *swoons* I love those...hidden...gloved...claws. *purrs*
