Philippine icons in 30" x 40" stretched canvas*Jose Rizal - national hero (top left corner)
* Lapu-lapu - killed Magellan ((small statue on top right side corner)
* Phil. flag colours - top far right
* coconut tree - 'tree of life'
* beach/sun - representing the beautiful beaches
* carabao (water buffalo) - animal helper in the fields
* family - Filipinos being/having a close family ties
* 'mano po' - respect gesture
* jeepney and tricycle - national local transport
* 'karitela' (horse drawn carriages) - an old traditional
transport
* 'sampaguita' (jasmin flower) - national flower, lower far right
* bits n pieces cut-ups/collages of pictures - traditional dances, lechon, bayanihan, traditional old cotumes/dresses, colourful fiestas, former president Cory Aquino, Jose Rizal, Lapu-lapu..
done in mixed media: pastels (oil and dry), acrylic and oil, tecture paint, sand mortar, collages of newspapers and my artworks, fabric and ropes...
not really my style, but need to experiment

To do it different (as the reference) or working without reference is like swimming in troubled water, so you get out on a new land that you never expected. If you jumped in, you have to swim so as you did the first line others have to follow, thinking comes automatic. Don't hesitate jump!

I know, I took the plunge on this one
The supposed to be venue is a modern/contemporary art show place and not wanting those trad. art like my style/artwork, so I had no choice. I am so glad I only made one though this is a big canvas

Do a series of some of these works and you will see how people will accept it! As I said don't hesitate!!! To explore a new territory there is one step not enough

It will be a long way till people will appreciate that but than you start to tell what you want and not that what people want to see, than you start to create and not to follow a reference as perfect as possible. Perfection is something for repeating creation is unique.
