I live and strive to meet expectations
And get no reward when I do.
Illogical fear of being isolated
Wanting to belong

I bend backwards to stay on their good side.
Every gathering, every party
They smile and say encouraging words
On the surface
Underneath they want you to fail
So that their children can shine brighter
