Description
This is a weapon I've wanted to make for awhile. The yanyuedao ("Green Dragon Crescent Blade") was, according to tradition, the weapon of the legendary Guan Yu. The weapon is better known as the guandao - named after the famous warrior, who is now worshipped as a deity in China. Though it is unlikely that Guan Yu actually wielded such a weapon, as there is no evidence for its existence until centuries after his death, it's still a really cool weapon that saw battlefield use. Especially heavy versions of the weapon have been made up to the present day to help martial artists build strength, and, according to the legends, Guan Yu's weapon was extremely heavy - such that only a superhuman such as he could wield it effectively in battle.

I made this model with surprising speed, though it was far from a fast job in objective terms. The dragon's head and the flames on the blade took me the longest to make, as there are a lot of fine details that I wanted to get just right. Still, I think they came out looking really great. I plan to upload another render soon that shows off the entire thing.
