I think this one and the previous one go together (as if they're taped together conceptually by the texture).
It's hard (for me) not to see the Christian imagery: this one is the crucifixion and the previous one is the
spear that pierced Christ's side while he hung on the cross.
(Since the texture itself is cruciform, I suppose this makes sense.)
Plaintive (and the numbers) like the Catholic "Stations of the Cross" (Via Dolorosa), which are a kind of illustrated sequential story of the crucifixion (cruci-fiction) but the figure is also a sad scarecrow....
