I think this comic is made all the more special for the fact that your guven just enough characters to write the name "Gayface" for your rival. I think its made even funnier that at the beginning of every game, the old dude who is meant to be your mentor always,

This brings back so many memories of playing pokemon.
I have the old game Silver (not Souls Silver) and... well... at the time I couldn't speak, talk or write english. And at the start of the game when I should pick out my name... well I hit the A button repeatedly because I didn't understand anything and my name became thus "AAAAAAAAAA" (I don't remember how many A's). And to this day the name are still A... on that game because I will not delete a game that I have played more than 250 hours on, because I feel damn proud for compleating that game when I didn't understand english at all.

I actually have never done that. I usually give the rival a male's name I find horribly unpleasant. I think the first time I played, I named him Bob. As a kid, that name irked me; It sounds so flat! (no offense to anyone out there who is named Bob and it isn't a nickname for Bobby)
These days, the rival is usually named after anyone on TV that is super annoying. So if a spokseperson comes on for something stupid (like this weird thing that stirs food for you) and, say, the guy's name is Matthew, that's the rival's name.

Actually they don't forget the names EVERY time. In Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald you don't get to name your rival, (Well you sorta have 2 rivals... but you don't get to name either of them. Yes, I do count Wally as a rival somewhat) it's either Brendan if you're a girl or May if you're a guy.
