Remember this scene from "Halloween Spectacular of Spooky Doom"? Just before Dib puts the flashing collar on Zim? Well, that's what I was going for in this pic.And I know there's supposed to be an apostrophe in the title, but this thing won't let me have one.

JCV is great! Zim is the best animation I have ever seen on American television! EVER! I've studied animation for years, since artschool and dreams of being an animator. I've generally been sickened by the cheap, 30 minute commercials that show on TV. The last really good animation was Looney Tunes, then Hanna Barbara came along and killed it. Animation was done overseas, cheaply and lots of corners were cut by using repeating scenes and images. Then I found ZIM, purely by accident. Never read any of JCV's work but recognized the style while flipping channels and was shocked to know that the creator of Johnny the Homocidal Maniac was given a kids program... and I watched it. The animation is outstanding with almost no cheating. JCV's penchant for dramatic angles and clever dialogue made me finally check out his older works. I am grateful we have a talent like his infiltrating our childrens cartoons, and for giving us a truely professionaly animation that can be enjoyed by all ages.
And yes, I think it kicks Disney's lame, saccharine, weak animation.
