I look into his gentle blue eyes and smile brightly as he blushes. He is so adorable that I never want to share him. My parents do not approve of our arrangement, but why do I care?

Every time that I see his shy grin, I know that all that we went through was worth it. I know that he hides many secrets from his past, but my heart aches for him to tell the pain he went through.

I want to be there to hold him in my arms and to assure him that I love him. Nothing will ever come between me and my love.

I glance at him occasionally as we walk through the courtyard. I hold out my hand to him, glancing into his bright eyes.

His soft pale cheeks redden slightly as a small hand enters my own. I grasp tightly as if he were the only safety I had. I am a drowning man I have to admit. I am drowning in my own love for him, that I feel it may be too overwhelming for me.

My mother did warn me against this one day, but I never paid her any heed. I always believed that the right person would never be out there for me. But that day at the ball, it just hit my chest so quickly, I was taken aback by the pure beauty I saw.

I grin to myself at the distant, pleasant memory, and he looks at me now in question.

My head turns to his as I say, “I am simply remembering how we met my love.”

He sighs dramatically, but I know that he remembers too because his face’s shade of red darkened.

A warm feeling crosses me as we sat down on a small bench, surrounded by the beautiful red roses in mother’s garden. She grew these flowers herself.

I remember as a young boy, she would take me hear and tell me stories of how my father would woo her and make her heart flutter.

I was so enthralled in my thoughts that I jumped slightly as a small head landed on my shoulder. My eyes looked down into soft brown hair and a tired face. My expression softened as I realized that my love had fallen into a quiet sleep.

This gave me the perfect opportunity to observe him more closely. I seemed to find myself gazing upon him more these days since I had him close to me at last. The journey to find my beauty has ended, and now I all I had to do was enjoy my victory.

My unoccupied hand, brushed a few strands of hair out his face. My hand did not still there. It trailed down across closed eyelids, a little nose, and silk-like cheeks.

My fingers stopped when they reached his rosy pink lips. The lips I had kissed that night. The eventful night where I thought my heart had stopped watching my love flee into the darkness.

I could not bare to think about such thoughts at a time like this. Shaking my head, I look down once more to see bright blue orbs gaze back at me sleepily.

“What time is it?” he asked, his voice and him still in a stupor.

I look toward the clock tower and notice that it is time to be heading back inside for dinner. My mother would kill me if I missed a meal with her.

“It is around 6. So we need to be getting back now.” I stand up, lending him a hand.

My mouth contorts into a smile as I see him stretch and then proceed to yawn loudly.

He covered his mouth in embarrassment, then looked away. “Oh I do apologize. I shouldn’t do that in the company of a prince.”

I grab his chin and turn his head to look at me. He looked so apprehensive and doubtful of himself, that my eyes saddened.

My arms wrap around him, pulling him tightly to my chest, silencing his protests.

“Oh…what are you doing?”

“Please do not doubt yourself. You can do whatever you wish to do in my presence.” I said to him firmly, that I was shocked that my voice was so serious.

He stilled his movements, then looked up into my eyes. “But-”

“No. Prince or not, you are still my husband. And I will not have you addressing me as if I was above you. I love you do you understand now Ashley?” I replied, pushing some hair from his face, while my other arm remained about his waist.

His blue eyes widened before he nodded smiling shyly. “I understand. And…I love you too my prince.”

“What did I just say?”

“No. You are MY Prince Charming. The one who saved me from the bad mother. No one can ever make me think anything less.” Ashley said, blushing and kissing my cheek quickly.

I grin quickly, before I pull his lips toward my own and claim them for myself. His eyes closed, while I slowly closed my own. We stayed embraced, until he pulled away for air.

We simply stared at each other. You could easily tell that I loved him, and the love radiating from him was there for me too.

I could hear servant in the distant yelling for us to return inside before it became to dark.

He pried away from my grasp, then began walking away from me. I stared at the back of his head reminiscing once more about that horrible memory of my almost losing him. I begin to stroll towards him, until I look beside me into a bush.

There I see a lonely blue rose, then I stare. Those are the rarest of all flowers, only produced when true love is near. Or so that was the tale my mother told me. She said that if I were to ever see one, that I was to pick it , then give it to the one I truly love.

We would be bonded by that flower and remain together forever, overcoming any obstacles. My eyes brightened as my hand reached for it. I pulled it easily from its bed, then I nodded up to the stars. I was meant to give this to him, to be together.

I shook my head, clearing my thoughts when I heard Ashley calling for me too.

When I finally run up to him, he looks at me in confusion, “What took you so long?”

“I had to pick my destiny.”

“What-” he stopped when he saw the flower that I presented to him. Blue eyes looked into mine as they began to tear up.

“I promise to you my love, protection and devotion. I will never let anyone hurt you. Especially me. I would sooner die then make you cry my love.” I proclaimed to him on bended knee, the flower extended for him.

A few tears strained down his face, so I stood quickly and wiped them clean. Suddenly my hand was caught between a heated face and a cool palm.

His smile was so gentle and kind, that I felt myself melting into a puddle right then and there at his feet. Ashley kissed the palm of my hand, then kissed my lips once more gently. “And I promised to not be a burden, because your love is all I need.”

My hand grasps his as we walk together down the hallway. “And all I need is you my blue eyes.”
