Here's my entry for the Steampunk theme CONTEST at allartsupport.deviantart.com/ . Although, to be fair, IMO this is more Clockpunk than Steampunk.

This is a small new pocket watch case, the insides of which I gutted and replaced with vintage & antiqued wristwatch & pocket watch parts. On that face plate, taken from an antique pocket watch, I placed three small rubies from a jeweled wristwatch.

I organized the clockworks in such a way that if one were to look at it from the front it would/should appear as if all of the gears meet at the teeth...so that twisting the crown would fire up the clockworks. In reality, however, twisting that crown would only hurt my feelings as it would damage the piece, tee hee hee (everything is set in place).

As a final touch I placed a copper wire around the rim where the pocket watch glass used to lie.
