It is still an awesome work - whenever I try to copy any kind of references, all I seem to get in the end, is I just can't draw stuff right most of the time.

I suppose you're right - practice is all it takes. A lot of it. From your reply, I've even recalled one quote in some artist's signature on DA: "A good artist is a shitty artist that never gave up", and I never even thought of giving up my tries at drawing!
