You can not actually draw this. I mean, the only possible way is to think that you are fooling us all.

No, just kidding.
This is the most amazing art I've ever seen in my whole life.

Not really sure you should have a 'scraps' section. The consistently high standard of work overall (Including those in progress) kinda negates the need, in my opinion. I'm sure I'm not alone in having a barely-contained urge to suggest a whole load of people and items, just to see them rendered by you, such is your obvious talent.

You better be famous one day!

oh wowwww...
so....what did you use to erase around the darker lowlight just at the upper half near the base of the bulb? it baffles me....just a pointed eraser?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

imaginee In reply to xxJinxchick-xx [2008-10-04 03:19:23 +0000 UTC]

What I do is draw all the dark areas around the highlights, I will swipe the kneaded eraser over areas to brighten them up when needed. For the most part I did a lot of negative drawing with this one....have to say looking at it right now it's still my favorite drawing!

Not only are you amazingly gifted... But you are in the spirit of a great tradition, which you probably know of. This was the favorite challenge of Deutch realist painters form XVI and XVII century. They didn't have the light bulb, of course, but they would make great contests on perfect ralism with simple tools on glass objects, glass being the symbol of the painter's spirit in still life codes. And this was already a tradition revived from antique drawers who had a contest of painting such perfectly realistic fruits on the stone that birds would come and try to eat from them (Zeuxis especially was known for this)! Much more to be said about this but I won't bore you. Great work, and as the antique drawers would say to the winner... Kudos!

Thank you so much for this very interesting information.... I really enjoyed hearing about the greats and how they challenged themselves, drawing this one really helped me to be a better artist and the best part about it is there is no end when it comes to learning and growing. Thank you again and you did not bore me at all!

You're most welcome. Your comment gave me a new occasion to visit your gallery and I noticed the glass of water, which echoes to my comment... In the famous painting "A woman drinking with two men" by Pieter de Hoogh [link] the woman is turning her back to us, but holding high the glass, which represents her spirit (notice that the maid is holding a cup too but made of clay...). One man obviously looks at her body, the other one looks either at the glass or at her face from this angle, which of course, in the painter's symbolic representation, is the same...

Your talent in this is truly wonderful and your stats demonstrate how much of an inspiration you are to others. Virtuosity is not vain in art, and you are a virtuose of your art undoubtedly. Congratulation for all your work, including the photographs! Hope to see more soon...

I must say, you posses the patients of a Saint. To have such a keen eye to sit, look, observe, study, and connect to such etailed components and execute those components onto paper is truly astonishing. The lighting around each and every bump, and scratch of the metal part is just amazing. You have every single detail there could ever be in such a simple object, it's hard to say that you're mortal. You have a gift beyond any I've seen here on deviatart and the patience of a thousand waits. I'm honored to lay eyes on such a beautiful piece.
