Description

Quick illustration based on the song "Black Volga" by Russian band Spleen. The song is about the Volga car, which was driving for a long time through the country and eventually drowned in the Caspian sea.

It wasn't supposed to be a vent art, but it turned out as one, since this car sums up my life now, apparently.

Yes, these things behind the car are lights, they look weird because I failed to draw them nicely.

This looks really cool, I like how its all in black and white, it reminds me of an old video. I also like how the car looks as it kinda looks a little scary.

Thank you very much!Β

I wanted to give the picture a bit mysterious look, black and white tone adds to it, I guess. I'd say the car actually looks scary, especially with the missing light.

I love the mood coming off of this piece so much. It feels like an old 60's drama movie, and no I don't really know why that's the first thing that came to my mind. Regardless of my wherever my mind's at, I really love this piece a lot. And I do hope you start feeling better soon!

Thank you!

Well, maybe it's not 60's but a drama for sure.Β

And thank you for the support! I'll try to stay positive!

This reminds me of the car that half the kids in my neighborhood had to drive in high school.

Even though this piece is definitely a bit dark and grainy, it's still solid artwork and conveys emotion well; I also hope that it helped in some small way.

Great job on this though, definitely you have the noir style down perfectly in this piece, and there's a lot of solid detail conveyed in the car.

I hope things get better for you in the near future Illusir!

We used to have quite a lot of these, now they're more rare, due to their age, I guess. It's a nice looking car as for me, I'd buy one myself.

Thank you! It helped me to express emotions for sure, although I'd maybe make it even more dark.Β

Noir style is one of my favourite. But it can be a bit too depressing to others to see it all the time.Β

Well, I usually draw dull sepia toned images – not that far from noir.

Β Thank you! I try to stay as positive as I possibly can!

I've never head of the model personally, though I've never been a car guy either. Was this a Russian made car by chance?

Of course, whatever helps you get through your time of trouble (for me its more music and video games).

I can deal with noir imagery, and I doubt I'd ever fail to watch or comment because of it; there are very few art styles I'd avoid at face value, and also I've always though your artworks show a great deal of detail and quality that's not often seen on public galleries.

Indeed, I'm glad to hear that. See you next time Illusir.

Yes, that's a Russian car Volga GAZ-24. It was something like a top class car in Soviet Union, for bosses and rich people (yes, there were rich people in USSR). They also were used as police cars, ambulances and taxi, though.Β

Music is my number 1 helper when I need distraction. Surprisingly sad music helps me more than optimistic one.Β

Ah ok, well I knew there were rich people in the Soviet Union (Communism isn't immune to elitism after-all); however I am surprised that there was an upper class car made in the USSR. (By chance do they still make the "Volga" or any newer variant anymore?)

Sometimes sad music can be inspiring as well, I'd say it really just depends on the over-all mood.

Well, Volga wasn't a Soviet Rolls-Royce, of course, but it was bigger and more comfortable than other cars (Moskvitch, for example). And it also had this image of an upper class car. And it costed more than other cars, so only quite rich people could afford it.Β

The most modern Volga was Volga Siber, based onΒ Chrysler car. But as I know they stopped to produce it. Volga GAZ-24 (the car on this picture) is still my favourite Volga

Alright fair enough, so basically it was a bit higher end but not really a luxurious car.

Hmm, well car companies go bankrupt and disappear all the time, despite the high margins you can make from cars the pressure to keep producing new models while keeping the massive costs under control is more than most companies can handle.

I'm not much of a car guy so I don't really have a favorite car model personally, but I like my car, it's somewhat sporty, has some good features, and isn't too expensive.

Anyway, talk to you later Illusir.
