Description A side shot upwards of the main formations.

If you know of the Giant's Causeway you'll have undoubtedly seen the shape of the rocks by now, but very few photos show their actual pillars from the side.

Lovely shot. I was just in Ireland in May but didn't get a chance to go to Giant's Causeway because they had a motorcycle race going on so the roads were blocked.

what is the giants causeway?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Illahie In reply to azad-janan21 [2009-06-17 19:53:17 +0000 UTC]

It's one of World Heritage sites, and a natural marvel indeed. An area scattered with mostly hexagonal basalt pillars that run into the sea. Much Myth and Legend surrounds the area, and it is a place of beauty indeed.

Why not click here and read the Wiki on it ---> [link]

My boyfriend spent a week there and said it wasn't nearly enough time; I'm thinking of saving up and some day going and just staying in hostels for a month or something.

A month would be more appropriate indeed... there is so much to see and do!

Illahie In reply to muirgheal85 [2009-06-17 17:12:08 +0000 UTC]

I did indeed But they're mostly silly shots, like me posing on top of it pointing to my own boots. They're on my friends camera

The Causeway itself isn't much of a challenge when it comes to climbing.. but the surrounding area is gorgeous to hike through

Beautiful shot. Those pillars at the coastal walk look impressive. I was there years ago and I'm longing to revisit this place, now that I've got a digital camera.

Digital cameras are indeed a blessing.. I remember the days when I went on vacation and took over 20 rolls of film with me XD

There is a certain charm in waiting how the pictures will turn out. Especially when you're developing them yourself.. but yes, being able to take hundreds of pictures and see the results immediately is great for the wallet!

Amarie-Veneanar In reply to Illahie [2009-06-17 11:56:10 +0000 UTC]

It is, especially since my old cam (which I still have) doesn't have an autofocus function. Back then my eyes were better, but nowadays they aren't any more. But only two months before I got my current digital camera I completely filled several rolls of film with photos of ranunculus.

But as I hardly ever developped them myself it got an expensive hobby, especially as I'm used to shoot series varying the focal number and shutter time.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that does that XD

I did stick to Canon though.. mainly because I sorta knew how things worked

As my current cam was a gift, I didn't actually choose it. But I've come to love it and its functions. It was recommended to my father by a photographer.
