I had the thought, AU turtle team but it's based on canon female turtles. I got some in depth explanation below.

April O' Neil

Debuted in Archie comics TMNT run; Winter 1994 Archie Special

In this AU she is a 20 year old Painted Turtle and was a human friend of the turtles. She tried to protect them when a mutagen bomb created by Baxter Stockmen went off, mutating her into a mutant turtle.

She is still as spunky and computer savvy as before, but her new mutant form allows her to fight at the boy's level, even though she never learns proper ninjutsu and chooses to fight with her bat. Unwilling to completely leave her old life behind she's the first to advocate for mutant rights and reveal their existence to the public.

Venus de Milo

Debuted in 1997's Next Mutation

In the AU she is a 16 year old Green Sea Turtle whose ocean was exposed to mutagen pollution shortly after a brief interaction with the turtles at the beach. With no where else to go, she searches for the turtles seeking answers for her new form.

Venus is a silent elegant type, mostly on account of being completely mute. It's unknown if it's caused by a physical issue with her mutation, or if she struggles with spoken language, but she communicates primarily through sign language.

Her weapon is a tessen, and she fights with the most fluidity and grace out of the team.

Jennika

Debuted in IDW's run of TMNT

Similar to canon, in this AU she is a former Foot Assassin who saw the error of her ways and defected against the shredder. In retaliation she was gravely injured and was given an emergency blood transfusion from one of the turtles, the mutagen in their blood causing her to mutate into a turtle. She is a box turtle.

Despite having the most formal ninjutsu training of the group, she chooses not to take up the leadership role, believing it's not for her and worried the stress would be too much for her. Instead she acts as the groups tank, being the strongest and able to take the most hits.

Lita

Also debuted in IDW's TMNT

In the AU, Lita is a 10 year old little girl who was mutated into an albino map turtle due to the fallout of the mutagen bomb that contaminated the part of the city she lived in. Being homeless, she fended for herself for months until she was discovered by Jennika and the others.

Though not officially a fighter, she joins the team cause 'girls gotta stick together', as April puts it. However she is not entirely defenseless, showing great potential in her martial arts training, and being way stronger than a normal 10 year old girl.
