Description Okay, so when Ben came over last night, we got to talking, and I ended up with a lot of cool ideas and not enough time to draw/write/sing them all. This was one of them. See, the sword idea actually came from a misplaced wrist on a character (it looked like he was holding a sword backwards) and so I tried to think of a weapon that could fit that grip. This is what I came up with. It's wicked awesome, at least I think so. I'll have to incorporate it into some kind of story or summat.

The two designs of the hilt are because it was originally a fantasy-ish sword that was later turned into a simple archaic weapon. Here's a summary of the backstory for each:

(1) This sword was originally used by a powerful wizard, who used the crystal sphere on the hilt to store spells and what-have-you. After he was mobbed and finally overcome in a last stand against invaders, the barbarians took his sword and shattered it on the ground. The sword, although badly chipped and worn from years of use, is still serviceable. (It's a magic sword, even without the crystal sphere. It probably still has a few millennia left in it.)

(2) This sword was wielded by an ancient and powerful master of swordsmanship who hailed from Arabia. He was killed in the Crusades, and so his astounding skills never became legendary outside of the middle east. The masterfully crafted sword, after rusting and corroding in the sand for a century or two, was found by an antiques dealer, who never recognized its value. Then, one day, an adventurer with psychometry wandered into the store and with a touch realized its value. He bought it for a few euros and walked out with all the knowledge and skill of an unprecedented warrior.

Eh compadres? Eh? EH??

Well, some of the proportions aren't quite right. It's supposed to be longer, for example. But anyway, I was really pleased with it. Someday (meaning 'after study hall today') I'll finish my sketch of the guy holding this - now THAT should turn out badass.

Those are some interesting stories, and an interesting sword. Wouldnt mind finding a sword that granted me the knowledge of a great swordsman.
