BACKGROUND & PERSONALITY

HV Madras was born and raised in Spain for 5 years before the Verband purchased her as stock. Her immaculate scope and charisma caught the attention of our team and an offer was placed to bring this spectacular mare to the public. HV Madras is a bright eyed and spirited mare, with full energy and springs for feet. It was the Verband anticipation that she would bring scope, drive and speed into the bloodlines she enters and the foals she produces.

HV Madras does have some quirks, but is not prone to spook. We introduce her to new equipment and let her inspect and view objects before we ask her to ignore their presence. She is incredibly intelligent and picks up cues with ease. This level of alertness makes her an agile companion in the ring and sure footed on course. She is always watching and is a very observant mare. She isn't one to find her off button often but when you catch her in an afternoon nap, she is more than happy to share the shade with you.

HV Madras isn't too fond or long trailering but is okay with flying. She does require more frequent trailer stops and must trailer with a partner. She is a very herd oriented mare, which why we always suggest she travels in a pair. She doesn't have a preference between mares or geldings, but does not react well to boss mares. Despite her trailering habits, HV Madras adapts well to correction, direction and new settings. We have never had her go off feed and she does well in a variety of climates.

Under saddle HV Madras, is a quick witted, agile, and alert partner. She gauges her jumps well and her rollbacks are effortless. This mare is lighter boned, which gives her a speed advantage. She does not lack muscle in the rear and retained her scope from her younger years as a competitor. This is the kind of mare you want in a speed class. She is easy-going but can be on the bit when she feels the pressure and the crowd gets going. She works hard and does not gear down as the course continues. She has no fear of water obstacles and has only been known to shift out or stare down fences with large tropical leaves, flowers or birds.
