Underempire does not hold monopoly on all of the insectoids – even if that is pretty much one of their goals. Their stratified society pushed a few species onto the outskirts, forcing them into poverty and crime by simple exclusion, making them de facto undesirables in the walls of their own cities. Flies are amongst the most persecuted of the insectoid folk, shunned nearly everywhere they go, forced by the circumstances to form tight familial bonds to survive in their clans. The outside world isn’t much better for them, for the above grounders see all Underempire kin – which included all insectoids, no matter if it’s right or wrong – with deep suspicions thanks to the militant and expansionist nature of that shady realm. But there are, of course, exceptions to that rule and Wharf Town is the primary one with their message of inclusivity. You are a fly and always felt shunned by society? Well, within this city walls you will find undead revenants, necromancers, ancient demons, a vast variety of abominable Others and entities of such grotesque magnificence, that you will forget all about your problems! Especially when you see they all work, say ‘hello’ to each other by the streets and the biggest threat you might be under is being talked to death about how good their product is that they are trying to sell with vehemence. That was the story of Grzegorz Bzyrlicki, a young fly who escaped the underempire tunnels to reach the surface – once he found the town he let his hidden passion flourish, and nowadays, as a grown fly, he is a respected chef that cooks fancy meals for the city rich and posh. And the word on the streets is, that he knows his shit.
