Description
Time to mix things up a bit! I made another translucent dragon, this time in cool colors, but I tried mixing the gold flakes into the body instead of just having them sit on the surface. The result is complex and interesting to look at, like leaves in a stream.
I really love the glow of the green paws and tail. Makes me wish I'd done the head in the same color, but I'd run out of green-tinted clay for this project. Given the colors that I have available, purple tends to come out a bit underwhelming. I also wish I'd upped the contrast on the wings and horns by making them a stronger orange or yellow. It looks a bit weak next to the other, brighter colors. Predicting the final look is difficult, due to how the translucent clay clears up after baking - this affects the brightness of the ink colors. At least I know for next time.
Crafted from polymer clay, alcohol ink and gold foil.

For this one, I blended a layer of different colored alcohol inks on top of a thin sheet of clay. The colors fade into one another, producing some really pretty gradients. Also, translucent clay doesn't really show the seams where different parts of the colored clay sheet intersect, so that helps the effect.

I like the color of the wings and horns -- it matches the gold and give the whole thing a sort of soft, almost pastel feeling. Looks really nice!

I personally think the purple really goes well with the rest of the colours. The horn and wings, like you said, could be a tad brighter, but the way it is now gives a feeling of being relaxed and tranquil.
