*old as balls*Sketch was done at the beginning of the schoolyear, so around the middle of September, while I colored it at the end of October.
It started as a quick pen-sketch done because I was bored, but, since I like coloring, I ended up working on it for hours and adding all these weird light effects...
(It's been a while since the last time I drew wisps...)
Not really linked to the story, it's part of the 'fantasy AU' I often do that doesn't have an actual plot and exist only because I like drawing Hai in this kind of sceneries with middle-ages-like dresses and long hair (for how much I love her with short hair, I think she looks good like this too).
If anyone has some time to spare, I'd love if you could leave a critique on this drawing!β₯ I'm looking for a global review, but I think what I need the most are some tips about lighting and how to give the pic an atmosphere.

I really like the atmosphere of this piece. The stars are nicely done, and the colors are nice. However, there are some issues with the lightings. For example, the hand holding the flame. Although it's the closest thing to the flame, the hand isn't noticeably lighter than anything else. It'd help if the area around the flame (the hand, clothing behind the flame, etc.) was a bit brighter.Β
The trees in the background are also a bit off in terms of lighting. They seem a bit too bright in comparison to the girl. I guess it'd make sense if there was the moon somewhere not in the picture, but then, the girl would most likely be slightly backlit. She'd probably have more highlights around the edges of her hair for example.Β
Some other things that could be improved are the water ripples and the clothing folds, which look a bit stiff and unnatural. Β
I'm sorry if my comment is really harsh (my friend always calls me a harsh critic ahaha). I'm still an amateur so I need improvement on a lot of these things too, so I may be wrong on some points

This was my first time doing a picture with this kind of lighting, so I really needed some tips ^^ I really didn't noticed that thing about the trees, and you're right about the flame lighting as well, I'll pay more attention to those details next time!

Hello~
I think this looks lovely. The style and colors are pretty and peaceful, very calming to my eyes.
But...
The main thing that bothers me is her pose. I can't tell if she's kneeling or sitting on her heels. Since the thighs look short, I'll assume the latter. The folds in the leg area of the dress didn't help suggest either position for me either. Looking at the sleeve and hand, I would have assumed she was kneeling. If it's actually suppose to be sticking out a little, then the foreshortening needs a some work.
The background is very lovely to my eyes. I like the sky, placement of stars (very nice direction!), and painting style of the greenery. The border between the grass and sand/dirt is a bit too cleancut though, so I suggest softening and add some stray group of grass blades. The water is magical looking, and I'm going to assume it's not suppose to be "realistic" due to the ripples and lack of reflection.
Lighting is a bit confusing, so I'm going to assume the moon is somewhere off-canvas. I think you did well on it, but would still like to suggest more highlights in the water. The blue flame could also be a bit stronger in it's brightness, because it looks a bit dull/pale...like it's dying.

You're right, now that you made me notice, I see that the pose is a bit confused, I'll keep in mind and pay more attention to cloth folds too!
I'm glad you noticed the stars (since it took me a lot of time to draw them all), and thanks for the tips about grass water... and specially for lighting: it's the first time I draw a pic with more than just one lighing source, and this one was even colored, so I had some doubts on how to color it, I really needed an advice!
