The picture is strong and sombre.  This picture is not just scary because of what stands in front of you, but also because of what lies ahead in the future (as in years).   This picture describes a moment where you find out a deep dark secret about a place in the woods, that you had known since you were a child.  Those monsters aren't going to kill you, but they will make you live a life that is hard to bear.  They will make you take part in their secrecy.

Those are just my thoughts.  Nice spooky picture.
