Greetings, young Spell Caster!
Know ye that possessing special trust and confidence, this magic wand is hereby awarded to thee.
This wand is named Zubeneschamali. It has a rich and illustrious history. It is hoped that ye will continue its story with honor!
Dark were the days in the Time of Legends when the evil Goblins from the mines of Zinksnatch waged war against the Fairies who lived in the Forest of Nebliothe. The goblins envied the beauty of the forest and the bounty of fruits and good things it brought forth. They hated all things good, smashing, hacking and burning all in their path as they persecuted the good fairies, who wanted nothing but to live in peace and harmony. Now, the Forest of Nebliothe is vast indeed, and while the fairies lived deep within it, far from the fighting on the borders of the wood lived a woodcutter with his family. The middle child of that family, a daughter named Masum, often wandered in the forest, enjoying its breathtaking beauty. She had always known magical creatures lived there, but had never seen any until one afternoon Masum came upon a small figure, exhausted and near death, lying among the leaves of the forest floor. It was Sarmasiklar, a fairy of the vines with sparkling light green skin and wings like a dragonfly. She never woke as Masum carried her to the cottage, where the family brought her back from death's door. Though Sarmasiklar awoke terrified, for all fairies fear humans and avoid them whenever they can, she was too tired to flee and learned to trust the family. Sarmasiklar told a tale of woe, that the goblins descended on her vineyard, burning the ancient vines that grew there. She fled for her life, flying until she collapsed from exhaustion and worried for the fate of her family. As Sarmasiklar grew healthy again, so too did the woodcutter's garden thrive and flourish, especially the vines, bearing fruit and beans out of season. Masum stitched a tiny green dress for the fairy with her own two hands, and under the constellation Libra Sarmasiklar fashioned a magic wand for Masum from a thick vine of the garden in return. Though the wand could produce any kind of magic, it was especially attuned to nature and growing life, and Sarmasiklar taught Masum to use its power for aiding life in the forest. One day, Sarmasiklar vowed to return to her home and learn the fate of her family. And so, with the blessing and love of her adopted friends, she set out into the forest. Masum cried at the departure. Years later, when she was grown, Masum followed the fairy into the forest, seeking her long-gone friend. She never saw Sarmasiklar again, but found the burned lands where the war once waged and used her magic to restore life to the scarred portions of the forest. She settled in a burned vineyard, restoring the vines around a humble cottage. Over the years she grew mighty in magic of Nature and protected the forest from goblins and other creatures, always hoping her friend would find her again.
Zubeneschamali is named after a star in the constellation Libra. It is one of only a few stars to appear green to the eye. Remember to only use its power for good! And may the good works ye do with it return to ye tenfold!
