This is a lovely memory...I'm so glad I took the time to sit down and sketch this scene. Something special happens when you decided to sketch a scene rather than take a photo, you remember the moment more. I know this isn't an amazing sketch/paint...I deffinitely have a ways to go when it comes to doing scenes. However, for my first scenic attempt I'm okay with it.

We had gotten up early in the morning at 6 am, had coffee and then headed out to our hike. We knew it may possibly rain or thunderstorm, so we wanted to hike while it was dry. The sun didn't show most of the hike and there was a few passing showers along the way. By the time we reach the pond itsself the weather finally broke and then sun popped out for about 20 minutes or so. Within that time frame we sat down and I began to sketch out the scene. The sun felt so nice and just intime for the sun...the dragonflies came. Large bright brlue dragon flies were swarming around us and the pond, as if they had been in hiding and waiting for the sun to show up in order to get warm. They landed on my painting and my shoulders...it was just an awesome time.

I did my sketching on this trip with no pencil or eraser, I purposely din't bring those so I can get better at drawing with my ink pen.
