Feature Class

Staring at an empty space, with a face as blank as my canvas. I keep thinking and imagining, but nothing comes to mind. Is there anything I'm suppose to see? What is it that I wanted to say? Are there any ideas worth my time and effort? The truth is, brewing inside me is a storm of concepts. Yet I can't seem to let it engulf me. I want to protect myself from any idea that might not work at all. By sheltering myself in this box, I know I can create works that are safe from criticism and disgrace. Is this the right thing to do? Is this how I give justice to art?

Sometimes, what artists fear isn't the lack of ideas, but having an idea that may not be valued or appreciated by others once conceived. It may as well be true that there are times when you have no idea which concept to pour your heart with. But if you're going to be honest, you are actually surrounded by myriads of idea. it's just that you are blocking them out, unable to break this impenetrable wall of safe and conventional thinking, just so you can please more people and to avoid getting bashed by others.

Only by conquering your fear that you could let all these idea surge and flow. Let those idea be free and be seen by the world. Express yourself without boundary. Whether others would love or hate it, what matters most is that you gave it a chance to exist. Don't hide from your excuse of having an art block. It's not you running out of ideas, but you running away from an idea. Let your original ideas reflect who you are. Only then will you find your audience who will appreciate you and your art with all their soul.
