Nightmare Moon want to help Luna, but she is just blind and agresive side of Luna, unable to see consequencions of her actions, instead of helping Luna, she make everythink worse.
She is unable to see that forcing everyone to see night to make tham noticing her wont make her subjects love her, she not can see that food can not grow without sunlight, what can result in all subjects dying.
And yet after 1000 years of banishment to the moon, where NMM was alown, it should turn her crazy, full of rage, NMM should should just kill Celestia and burn everythink, and yet she come back calm, doing what she did 1000 years ago, and she not even tryed hard to kill mane 6 ( her traps were rather weak considering her powers ).
NMM is totaly blind version of Luna, since she not make any decysions than just following simple goal.
