Yeah, this is a sketch, but I consider it a finished work (despite some textureless areas) and I felt it deserved a spot in my main gallery. I mean, the scrap feature is nice and all, so you can stick just scribbles up and they won't clutter your main gallery, but there is an unfair implication that 'sketches' are somehow incomplete, or unworthy works of art which is craziness. (please make sure you check out my scraps, though. I'm uploading a lot of art that is just as good, but isn't compositionally structured, which is what I feel distinguishes the scrap from the deviation )Anyway, yes, I was outside sketching one of the trees that interested me. To be perfectly honest, I really like traditional kinds of drawings, and get tired of furry animal cartoons and stuff. XD I'm kind of a fine arts nerd in disguise
And I plan to do more traditional drawing now that it's summer and I've got time.

This really is amazing. I'd love to draw trees and other monstrosities in my garden, but sadly the most realistic thing I can draw are animals (and then, only canines). Then there's the problem with actually being outside long enough to draw without getting attacked by hornets.

YES! I have the exact same problem with the line between Scraps and Deviations! Most of my works end up going into scraps because they're not quite "polished," but are definately not doodles.

I think textures are the hardest thing to do with traditional media... good job with this! x) Bark looks super difficult.

This was a luvly tree, I watch it pose for her. ^_^ Its really funny to see a random tree that I know of on the internet. She did this with a ball point pen too. I think so anyway, another pic she did that i thought was cool I watched her do with a ball point. I think thats awesome

a VERY nice study .___. i myself have such a hard time with bark, since the details are overwhelming, ESPECIALLY when your refrencing off a real subject. but, you did such a wonderful job figuring in all those details, it makes me want to cry ;-;

Wow amazzing! I always find tree's impossible to draw, they just have too much texture. You've really managed to catch all that detail into this little sketch. It'd make an awesome background for whatever little creature you end up doodling next

I'm not an artist, BUT I do think drawing one thing all the time would get boring. The way this tree is set up it almost looks like wax. You are an amazing artist. Keep up the awesome work.

I would consider this one finished, even though the texture doesn't completely fill up the shape of the tree as established by the outline. It's beautiful. It looks so ancient and gnarled... like its been around a long time and would be very wise. Such a tree could be personified as an elderly person, or something, I think. Wonderful work.
