I drew the first of these Salamander pieces when I was in eighth grade and received a great deal of encouragement from my instructors that has certainly resulted in my skill today.

The 'Armored Salamanders' are a hive-structured race of dragon-like creatures that live beneath ground in vast cavern systems. They are intelligent, but their culture is completely unlike any of our own.

They first enter my cannon when a young boy is fleeing through the forest from the warlords that have sacked the castle where he lived. He was a prince, but the cliche kills me now so I may portray him as the deceased princeling's body-double.

The boy's guardian is taken in the wood and his death allows the child to escape deeper into the wood. He is intercepted by an armored juggernaut and taken in.
