This year’s work for the 4th and fifth of May. Title and drawing are a inspired by "Dolle Dinsdag" (Mad Tuesday). Canada reassuring The Netherlands that he is really there.

The Allied forces liberated Brussels on 3 September and Antwerp on 4 September. At that rate, the Dutch believed the Allies would be in Rotterdam on 5 September and arrive in Amsterdam and Utrecht the next day. The liberation of the other parts of the country would follow quickly. This rumor spread like wildfire and people were ready to celebrate and welcome the liberators. The occupation forces and NSB members panicked. Destroying documents and fleeing to Germany.
It was unknown to the people that the Allied troops in Belgium were small in number and with too few to liberate the entire Netherlands, the main forces still located in France.
After Operation Market Garden failed at the end of September, it became painfully clear that it had only been a rumor and the liberation was far off. The Netherlands would still have to go through the Hongerwinter (Hunger winter or Dutch famine of 1944, hitting the west of the country the hardest) before it would see freedom.

I didn't to a lot of research on the uniforms, so I hope the designs and colours aren't to far off. Otherwise, please forgive me.
